>>>figuring out who you are as an individual
So. Yea. I'm learning that I have a hard time finishing things (sometimes), which is why our newly-re-finished bathroom still lacks a fabric shower curtain or a vent cover.
Which, makes my next question that much more appropriate!
How do you function practically?
Under what circumstances are you the most productive?
I'm learning that I love schedules and lists and the sense of security they bring me. I recently bought a dry erase board calendar for our kitchen, and it's kind of making my day right now.
I'm learning that I function best with some kind of structure, and I'm also learning how to create that structure on my own- now that I don't have the time constraints of a job outside the home.
THAT has been a huge challenge, but just putting that in writing right now has been really empowering.
I'm going to have to create my own structure.
Here's an article I found about "Your Productivity Personality." It's a little wordy, but I also think it's massively helpful.
The author mentions, "One Big Project" people, and I can see myself being one of them. As much as I love lists, at times, I have a hard time sticking with them.
For me, perhaps it's better to stick to "One Big Project" at time as opposed to thinking about tackling it all at once.
I kind of wish I was born in the 1800's. Like a pioneer...I bet they didn't need schedules or to to-do lists.
You know, you wake up and say, "Ok. Holly. Today, you need to plant some corn, and if you don't plant some corn....then this winter, you will starve and die."
Nothing like survival as a motivator. ;)
Better yet, "If you don't churn this butter, you will have NO butter."
Nothing like BUTTER as a motivator!
All joking aside, I'm still learning how to live peacefully and productively.
I ordered a planner from this little lady. I'm looking forward to putting it to good use.
You can also download this Productivity Planner for FREE from Donald Miller's website.
Ordering two planners in two days!!?!?! Steps in the right direction. :)
What works for you?
